Ph.D. Director Project Management

In July 2009, Dr. van der Zee joined Kinesis and the Kinesis Project Management group and assumed responsibility for the management of Nutraceuticals –based and related projects as Director Project Management Nutraceuticals.

In this position, she organizes and monitors a wide range of projects and studies concerning the application of nutraceuticals and novel foods, including efficacy, toxicity and safety studies, the preparation of safety (novel food) and claim dossiers and position papers on behalf of sponsoring companies.

Prior to her affiliation with Kinesis, Dr. van der Zee headed the Section Cellular Biology/Physiology at Numico Research (Danone) where she was responsible for the formulation, development and performance of R&D programs and projects in the area of cardiovascular disease, respiratory diseases, energy metabolism / ageing and sports nutrition. She delivered (nutritional) concepts, claim support and IP for use in clinical nutrition and food supplements. After that she joined Friesland Campina Dairy Foods as Nutritional R&D Manager and was responsible for the integration of health-related functional ingredients into product-innovations in the field of weight management and brain development by initiation, centralisation and co-ordination of different R&D programs and projects for several (inter)national Operating Companies. She has formulated selected Nutrition & Health research programs and innovation plans leading to sustained and functional food innovations and concomitant IP, safety and claim dossiers.

Dr. van der Zee obtained her Ph.D. degree in 1994 at the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Groningen. Subject of her thesis was the “Receptor mediated signal transduction of DDT1-MF-2 smooth muscle cells”. She studied Medical Biology at the University of Groningen, where she obtained her M.Sc. (specialization in physiology and pharmacology) in 1990. She is (co)-author of more than 10 scientific articles in peer reviewed journals.
