Ilonka van Hoof

Ph.D. Director Nonclinical Development

As of January 01, 2009 Ilonka van Hoof joined Kinesis-Pharma in the position of Director Non-Clinical Development.

Ilonka has worked at Organon (currently Schering-Plough) for over 10 years in different positions. She started at the tox department in 1998 and worked there as a Study Director for general tox studies, ADME studies and reproductive tox studies (with a specialization for the latter). For about one year she also was the Head of the General and Reproductive tox Study Director’s group.

From 2001 – 2005 she held the position of Project Toxicologist (besides to her activities as Study Director) and was the representative of the tox department in numerous development & project teams, dealing with various indication areas including Cardiovascular, Neuroscience (incl. Pain), Immunology, Women’s Health and Diabetes. Several of these projects were NBE’s.

In May 2005 she left the tox department and joined the Project Management group. In this position she worked as Project Manager and led different Early Exploratory Development teams; from compound selection all through Proof of Concept. Also in this position her portfolio contained a variety of indication areas and NCE’s as well as NBE’s.

Before starting her career at Organon, she studied Chemistry (Biochemistry) in Nijmegen and did her PhD at the department of Molecular Pharmacology at the VU in Amsterdam (Prof. Dr. Aalt Bast). This PhD project was a collaboration with the Division of Inhalation Toxicology of the RIVM in Bilthoven. The title of her thesis was: Mechanisms of ozone-induced changes in airway reactivity, and in June 1998 she received her doctoral degree. During her PhD she also did the majority of modules for the Post Doctoral Degree in Toxicology.
