Ph.D. Senior Consultant Chemistry, Manufacturing & Control

Dr Yves Ruysschaert joined Kinesis Pharma in March 2008 as Senior Consultant Chemistry, Manufacturing & Control.

Previously, he was Director of the Early Chem-pharm Leaders group at Johnson & Johnson in Beerse, Belgium from 2002 on. His main task was bringing compounds from discovery to proof of concept clinical study.

He handled more than 50 compounds of which 5 were successfully transferred to late development. He participated in acceleration programs to optimize interdisciplinary interactions. From 1999 to 2002, he headed the Pilot Chemistry Lab at Johnson & Johnson, which was responsible for the scale-up of the first GMP drug substance batches. He introduced GMP for the manufacturing of small batches in discovery labs.

He started his career in 1992 at Johnson & Johnson as Scientist in Chemical Development, where he was responsible for the chemical development of drug substance batches from lab to pilot plant and finally to production. He is co-inventor of multiple patents, related to Drug substance and its application in Medicinal Drugs at Johnson & Johnson.

He received a PhD in Organic Synthesis in 1991 at the University of Ghent (Belgium). He got a M.Sc. in Chemistry in 1985 at the Free University of Ghent. He was invited lecturer in the Pharmacy School at the University of Ghent for ‘Introduction of chemical synthesis into development of medicinal product’. He is co-author of small number of patents and peer reviewed articles as well as co-author of chapters in organic chemistry books.
