Dr. Annemiek Stijnen joined Kinesis Pharma in June 2005 as Director Chemistry, Manufacturing & Control and Senior Consultant Chemistry, Manufacturing & Control. She has a wide experience in the chemistry, manufacturing and control aspects of drug development form early development to registration.

Previously, she was Manager Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance at Dafra Pharma, Turnhout, Belgium (2004-2005). Her main task was related to the WHO Prequalification of Anti-Malaria products for the African market.

As Scientist/Project leader/Qualified Person at OctoPlus Development, Leiden, The Netherlands (2001-2004), Dr. Annemiek Stijnen was involved in formulation development and clinical manufacturing of medicinal products based on small molecules, proteins and lipids.

From 1992 to 2001 she gained a broad experience in formulation development at Intervet International. She started as Research assistant/ Group leader Pharmacy R&D, Intervet International BV, Boxmeer, The Netherlands, responsible for the development of pharmaceutical formulations, quality control and production methods for a wide range of veterinary products (1992-1996). One of her first tasks was to set up the GLP system for the formulation development laboratory. As head Pharmacy R&D (1996-1999) she was involved in the registration of veterinary products and in patent applications. She was one of the heads of department that started the Intervet Pharma R&D facilities in Beaucouzé/Angers, France, where she was responsible for the Pharmacy R&D (1999-2001), her main tasks being setting up the GMP pilot plant for dry products and for liquid forms (including injectables), writing of expert opinions and consultancy for pharmaceutical development.

She received her Ph.D. from Leiden University in 1991 on the influence of ageing on the pharmacodynamics of CNS compounds. She holds a M.Sc. from Leiden University with a major on absorption enhancement. She is (co)-author of around 10 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.
